Attorney Michael Mayoral Featured on NBC Miami Discussing Impact of New Condo Safety Law (HB 913)
POSTED ON June 25, 2025
Michael Mayoral, shareholder at Perez Mayoral, P.A., was recently featured in an NBC Miami report discussing the potential consequences of House Bill 913, which Governor Ron DeSantis signed into law earlier this week. The new law, passed unanimously by both the Florida House and Senate, imposes stricter structural inspection and reserve funding requirements on condominium associations across the state.
In the segment, Mayoral emphasized the serious financial implications the new law could have for condo owners, particularly those living in older buildings.
“At the end of all of this, a unit owner is going to face a foreclosure potentially for unpaid assessments,” Mayoral warned. “That’s going to turn into a lien, and they can potentially lose their unit.”
He also underscored the urgent need for greater transparency in association operations, especially as boards prepare to impose large assessments to comply with the new mandates.
“It’s really important in today’s day and age that condo owners have access to transparency,” Mayoral said.
The firm continues to advocate for homeowners throughout Florida facing legal issues with their associations, including improper assessments, lack of due process, and financial hardship due to overreaching board actions. As building safety reforms unfold post-Surfside, Perez Mayoral, P.A. remains committed to protecting the rights of unit owners across the state.
