In response, the Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners recently enacted an ordinance designed to protect renters. The new law, which became effective March 25, 2022, requires landlords to give residential tenants at least a 60-day written notice when:

• Increasing rent by more than 5 percent.
• Terminating a month-to-month residential rental agreement.
